The following is advice for all swimmers considering taking part in any upcoming Galas.
What do I need to bring?
Swim suit x2
PASC hat and a spare hat in case of rips
Goggles x2 in case one pair snaps
Shorts and t-shirt to wear between races and if you like for line-up before your race. Also if you are lucky to win a ribbon or medal you will need to wear a t-shirt for presentations.
Water bottle filler with your name on it
Flip flops or crocs
Plastic bag for your wet clothes
What should I eat?
Swimmers are encouraged to eat healthy at all times
The day before the gala you should eat as normal and drink plenty of water
Get plenty of sleep
Morning of Competition
Have a good breakfast before you leave home, e.g. porridge, Weetabix or a smoothie
At the Competition
Stay hydrated – drink water or juice
Eat small amounts of food throughout the day but not large amounts before a race or between sessions
Waterpolo Training Session CANCELLED
Following on from last years successful joint training session with Newry & Mourne Swimming and Waterpolo Club another one has been arranged for this year:-
Date: Saturday 14 March 2020
Time: 5.30pm – 7.30pm
Venue: Newry Leisure Centre
This is open to all age groups and everyone is welcome. Last year proved to be great fun and a friendly game takes place at the end of session! Although it’s a friendly won’t it be great to show how far we have come from last year! To be eligible for this gala you must have achieved 3 times in a Level 2 Licensed Meet during the 12 months prior to the entry closing date. This gala takes place in the 50m pool and there are 50m, 100m, 200m and 400m events. Closing date Monday 2 March 2020. Please email email@example.com marking FAO Paula and include gala in subject title and ensure you state which events you are looking to enter.
